Pregnancy Ultrasound

Common reasons for an ultrasound during pregnancy include:

• Pregnancy dating & viability
• Vaginal bleeding or pain in early pregnancy
• Nuchal translucency to assess the risk of a foetus being affected with a chromosomal abnormality
• 18 week foetal morphology to exclude any structural abnormality (Second Trimester Screening)
• Placental localisation
• Cervical length assessment for women at increased risk of preterm birth
• Multiple pregnancy
